Susan Platt’s first job as a political campaign manager was the can’t-win senatorial bid of Charles Robb of Virginia,which her candidate won handily. This memoir is a fast-paced tale of the forty-year involvement of Susan and her husband in political campaigns, rubbing elbows with everyone who was anyone in Washington. Life changes abruptly for Susan when her husband dies, and we see her struggles and victories as she adapts to a new life as a widow.
